March is Fraud Prevention Month

Phishing messages are becoming more and more common in our expanding digital world. These messages appear to come from legitimate organizations and can be very convincing, using logos and similar formats to the company they are impersonating.

They may offer refunds for overpayment and will prompt you to click on a link, open an attachment or enter your banking credentials. Remember, If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Following the phishing instructions allows scammers on the other end to access (and take over) your banking.

ATB Financial will never send you an email or text message asking for you to reply with personal information such as your password, your customer card number, or your login information. There are occasions where you will be sent a link that will allow you to reset a password or enrol in ATB Personal, but that will only happen in response to something you have requested or agreed to. If we call you, you will be required to answer the security questions you set up.

Be safe. Delete phishing messages immediately.
